Accurate identification of seismic damage about constructions after the earthquakeduring the earthquake reconstruction can provide reliable basic information for housingreinforcement safely and economically. Nowadays, structural damage appraisal in theearthquake site still primarily depends on the experts’ visual judgments. And specialistsalways give their results based on experience. Such an approach is difficult to avoid thedeviation of the identification results because different appraisers may have disparateunderstanding of the structure damage phenomena. Conclusions have no completeobjectivity. In this paper aimed at a typical RC frame-shear wall structure, the damageindex is the key indicator to the safety appraisal of the buildings after earthquake. Thepurpose is to provide theoretical basis for the identification of quantitative safetyappraisal. The effect on the overall structural damage assessment is studied in this paperfrom two aspects: the damage index of components is unknown and the damage indexof parts of the floor is unknown. The main contents in this thesis are as follows:(1) Methods of calculating the damage index of each member of reinforcedconcrete at home and abroad is summarized. A typical RC18-storey frame-shear wallstructure is modeled by the finite element software ABAQUS to study different types ofdamage index calculation methods.(2) The method of calculating the overall damage index from damage indexes ofcomponents is studied. The overall damage index is calculated by IDA analysis to theframe-shear wall structure. And then compared with the structure damage assessmentmethod based on the layer maximum deformation, to make sure the method ofcalculating the quantized overall damage index based on the component damage indexis reasonable.(3) Studying how to calculate the whole damage index when the damage index ofcomponents is unknown or the damage index of parts of the floor is unknown. And thento compare the results with the overall damage index calculated by all the componentsor all floors. The rationality of results can be determined according to the rate of change.A theoretical basis is provided for the identification of the structure damage afterearthquake. This method introduced in this thesis can improve the objectivity and the accuracyof the RC structure’s safety appraisal after earthquake. At the same time, it enhances theefficiency of this work which has very important practical sense and excellentapplication prospect.
