With the enforcement of the policy of relying on science and education, theeducation career in southwest has developed unprecedentedly, but with the deepening ofthe urbanization process, the lack of land resources become a main obstacle ofeducation development. As the problem of land is not solved, more and more schoolsbegan to leave the cities where space comes at a premium to expand their constructionspace in the mountain areas around the cities. This paper takes the campus buildings in the southwest mountain areas as theobject of study. Through systematic generalization and analysis of the influencingfactors and historical evolution of mountainous construction and campus buildings, thepaper summarizes the basic design methods to construct mountain campus buildings.Through analyzing and comparing with the existing design cases of mountain campusbuildings, the paper, combined with the actual construction in the southwest, summarizes the experiences and eventually gets the design rules and ideas that aresuitable for the mountain campus buildings in the southwest areas. There are five main parts in the paper:The introduction part introduces the research purpose, significance, and methods ofthe study of mountain campus buildings under the condition that there is contradictionbetween national development strategy and practical difficulties, and defines theresearch scope and concept. The second part studies the concept “mountain” that "mountain campus buildings"contains and the development process of mountain campus buildings, thus providingtheoretical basis for the design and research of mountain campus buildings. The third part analyzes the actual cases of mountain campus, and summarizes thegeneral design ideas of mountain campus buildings. The fourth part defines the research scope of southwest areas that the paper studies, analyzes the natural and human environment, and introduces the practical engineeringcases, thus providing theoretical basis for the design of mountain campus buildings inthe southwest areas. The fifth part, through the comparison with the design of campus buildings undergeneral conditions, puts forward appropriate design methods.
