This paper beginning from the historical background: China's Mass higher education students'admissions and the campus construction peak. It started to the open space of the modern campus basis and the entrance transitional area of campus building for research. Use urban design theory, the behavioral architecture theory and contextualism of architectural design in the context of basic design principles of architecture bring forward the entrance transitional area of campus building with the design methodology. The theory is a great significance to the improvement of the campus open space and it also has space for cities of similar experiences.The entrance transitional area of campus building (ETACB) is the comparing between internal and external peripheral district of the campus building entrance transitional area and the open space of campus. The ETACB consists of campus buildings, open space of campus and building entrance area three components. They belong to the building and the campus. As campus building and open space important node, the ETACB is a unique hub of space and the building space and the campus space infiltration region. The ETACB belongs to the building space and has been conferred on some functions of campus space. It is the campus open space systems-parts and became campus space and public life in the building of the campus infiltration.The paper starts with the ETACB research on the historical evolution and related concepts. Through its research space by constituent elements and analysis of its functional space concludes. It has concluded that the role of Integrating the campus public space, Campus traffic distribution, Campus landscape leisure and Campus cultural transmission.
