Rear-view Mirror is one of the major safety components and has a direct impacton driving security of the vehicle. When traveling, the rear-mirror vibration will exerta serious threat on driver’s vision. Hence, the rear-mirror vibration has graduallyattracted attention.This paper is based on analyzing the causes of rear-view mirror vibration whenvehicle is fast moving, aiming at reducing the vibration solutions for the goal, tostudy the rear-view mirror vibration problem of one certain fast-moving mini car. Thestudy methods involve modal simulation, fluid-structure interaction simulation andchecking the rearview mirror vision, just named a few.Firstly, this paper analyzes the relationship between rear-view mirror and itsvision. With the study on geometrical relationship among rear-view mirrors, driver’seye position and the rear vision, through human’s physical structure and thegeometrical position of rear-view mirror, the driver’s range of vision is confirmed andthe geometrical model with driver’s vision, rear-view mirror and its vision isestablished.After determining each parameter value of the rearview mirror, thethree-dimensional model of rear-view mirror is set by3D modeling software and therear-view mirror modal analysis is conducted through importing finite elementanalysis software ANSYS.A complete mirror flow analysis model is built and the flow fields of rear-viewmirror in various driving speeds are studied with FLUENT. With the comparativeanalysis of the results and the establishment of the rear-view mirror vibrationADAMS model, conducting coupling vibration response analysis on the wind-mirrors-vehicle systems, the author finds out the cause of the mirror vibration athigh speed.The installation angle of rear-view mirrors one of the important factors affectingthe automobile rear vision. When different solutions for the mirror installing angleswere analyzed, when different rear-view mirror vibrations at high speed, it thanks tothe software FLUENT and ADAMS, then the ideal rear-view mirror installing angles were out of comprehensive analysis. Finally, these angels were checked throughRAMSIS software, combining with the national standards of rear vision, the ultimategoal of optimum car mirror mounting angle was achieved.
