Micro-channel heat exchangers are widely used in automotive, consumer andcommercial air conditioning because of its high heat transfer efficiency, light weight, smallvolume, energy efficiency and environmental protection benefits. The fin forming machineis the special equipment used for the fin production, so the equipment’s precision directlyaffects the heat exchanger’s efficiency. In this article, the research of uncoiling and splittingtechnology can improve the quality of fin processing.Firstly, the process of fin forming and its equipment were introduced. In the unwindingof aluminum strip, too little tension will cause strips to accumulate,and too large tensionwill pull off strips, so constant tension control is extremely important. The using of cuttingmechanism achieve a fin’s dual-channel production, greatly improved the production’sefficiency.In accordance with the control requirements, a full Auto closed loop tension controland a tension detection are used in the fin forming machine, the application of PID controlsignificantly improve the accuracy improved the accuracy reliability of control systems.Mitsubishi QPLC, is used as the core of control system, make a response to the tensionsignal changes accordingly to the tensity sensor feedback, then change motor speed byinverter control volume in order to achieve the uncoiling tension control. So the design ofthe control system is completed.The strip can be cut into two pieces by using the splitting mechanism. We can obtainthe key factors affecting the shearing quality by analyzing of the force during shearing. Andit can provide a reliable basis for the designing of splitting mechanism. The overlap andlateral clearance of the circular scissors in splitting mechanism can be adjusted, so that itcan adapt different sizes of aluminum strip. ABAQUS finite element simulation software is a very useful tool that can simulate some key parts, such as the shafts. The analysis resultsdemonstrate the design’s safety and reliability. And the simulation of aluminum stripsplitting helps to improve the quality of shearing.
