With the development of science and technology and economic prosperity, peoplebegan to pursue an informational, safety, comfortable and convenient home environment.Smart home system defined as system which integrate household related facilities bytaking advantage of computer technology, sensor technology, network communicationtechnology, embedded technology and automatic control technology. It can provide peoplewith safe, smart and comfortable home environment. Traditional smart home system islimited by its complicated wiring routes, poor extensibility and compatibility, andmeanwhile high price and low level of intelligence restrict its popularization anddevelopment. Therefore modern wireless smart home system compatible withheterogeneous network, good extensibility and low price has important practicalsignificance and commercial value.Based on latest techniques and research results, we developed a completehierarchical structure smart home system. Firstly we introduce the topic backgroundand research situation at home and abroad. We divide smart home system intoresidential gateway, home device networks and controller terminal to achieve a highintelligence smart home system, that network-compatible and can be dynamicalexpanded. By introducing OSGi middle-ware technology which can provide networkaccess, device management and data conversion services to achieve integratedheterogeneous networks and devices compatibility on gateway. Device network canshare and convert data with controller terminal via gateway. The system managesappliances intelligently as an android intelligent device to be controller terminals forits technical support and great user experience. Tablet PC and mobile could be thecontroller terminal with Smart Home app, it improves usability and reduces costsgreatly. And Z-Wave communication protocol is chosen as the device network protocolwhich with low power consumption, good compatibility and low cost, ensuring devicenetwork’s security and stability.Finally, we carry out unit tests as well as integration tests on the whole smart homesystem. It can be seen from the test results that the system could solve deficiencies of traditional smart home system and it can provide a satisfying reliability and stability. Inaddition, system provide both hardware and software network access interfaces, enablingthe system to meet the different needs of users. And the implementation has significantmarket value and broad prospects.
