In the background of urbanization wave worldwidly, urban spatial morphologychanged dramatically, the traditional historic area of the city gradually beingreplaced by the new city, breaking the city’s overall historical context. This is an urgentneed to form a study of urban space,in order to coordinate the relationship betweenthe new town and the traditional urban areas.Urban street space is the most importantpart of the urban spatial form, its form determines the spatial layout of spacethroughout the city,so this paper the streets of urban space is a study object. The paper aimed to quantitatily accurate describe city streets space form, thussummarizes key characteristics. In this paper, the quantitative indexes including thestreet length, width and street builiding height of three basic indexes, and networkdensity diagram, ratiorelationship diagrams of height to width. The reasearch bases onthe framework of index, establish quantitative digital platform of GIS system, toaccurate describe three cases urban street space features,Italian city of Venice,Siena inEurope and lijiang in China, then comparative analysis of the inherent regular. In the comparative analysis of three cases in the city, draw the followingconclusions:there is a direct correlation between street spatial form and urbanhistorical context;streets spatial form and urban functions also exist related;networkdensity chart indicators can reflect differences in different cities of street widthvariation;aspect ratio chart can be differentiated system of city streets scalefeatures.Index system identified, quantified digital technology can provide space forurban morphological parameters control tool designers, and hope in the field of urbandesign, evaluation and demonstration program designed to provide some reference tothe history of the city to protect and update.
