Roof Garden Landscape Diversity Research Of Commercial Building

With the social development and the expansion of cities, there is less available green space. As aresult, the roof gardens as a part of the modern commercial architecture have emerged. Today,the roof gardens are not only used to increase the green space, but also designed as thecomprehensive public areas combining the functions of sight-seeing, entertainment andcommercial activities. They have not only improved the residents’ living quality, but alsoprovided new channels to make the cities green.This paper studies the diversity of the landscape design of commercial garden roofs. It also takesthe consumer philosophy and behavior into account in order to break the traditional unitary wayof designing the roof gardens and to develop the innovative methods. This paper emphasizes thatthe factors of influence should be defined and the design features have to be made clear. Only inthis way, can the garden roofs better play its role as a part of commercial architecture and keep inharmony with the natural views.Based on the previous theories, the writer had the on-the-spot investigation of several typicalcommercial roof gardens at home and abroad by taking photos. In this paper, the writer makesanalysis of their current condition and the related factors of influence, and concludes the featuresof the landscape design of commercial roof gardens. Besides, the existing problems and thesuggestions on improvement are also discussed in this paper.
