The landing gear design is one of the most basic areas in the field of aircraftdesign. An optimal design is an important guarantee of the take-off and landingsafety.In this dissertation, the landing gear of the Y12F is chosen as the design object.According to the characteristics of the vehicle, an overall design of the landing gearis given, which is suitable for the selected model. The landing gears’ installationposition is determined after the calculation of the whole load distribution and therestricted angles which needs to be satisfied. On the basis of the required strengthsspace, a reasonable extending-retracting mechanism is designed. A suit of cylinderis worked out by using hydraulic power as the power source—this design makes thelanding gear retract normally. In order to meet the technical requirements, andvanced digital fly-by-wire control system of the nose wheel is designed.The newnose wheel steering system has a simple structure,with high reliability,lightweight,easy maintenance and important application value. And last but not least,the preliminary design of absorber system of the landing gear is completed andtested.According to the above design, a3-D digital landing gear model of the Y12Fvehicle is built by using CATIA software. Then the model is analyzed by usingfinite element software and the main and nose landing gear’s strength and rigidity isanalyzed by applying landing gear’s load and boundary condition to the model.Results show that the materials of components selected meet the requirements.During the whole design of landing gear, we will encounter a variety ofengineering problems. In order to solve them, we have to coordinate them with theaircraft itself. In this sense, design experience is very crucial. In this paper, arelatively effective design scheme is engineered based on a certain type of aircraftlanding gear, which has some reference and contribute to the overall design of thelanding gear in the future.
