Developing the electric multiple units train has become the main route to solve theproblem of the railway traffic speed-raising, the tight-lock coupler and buffer is one ofbasic parts of the train. It transfers pull force or impulsive force at the running andtranslate task of train. Because the present research and development level of our countrycoupler and buffer can not completely meet the need of300km/h and the abovehigh-speed train, the design of coupler and buffer which can apply to the300km/helectric multiple units train will give some reference for the independent development ofour country coupler and buffer system.On the base of earlier technical storage, combined with the market demand andborrowed ideas from foreign advanced experiences, this paper analyzed the tight-lockcoupler and buffer system. The dynamics analysis for the buffer had been done, got themaximum coupler force and the buffer force value at the brake, pull and joint mode.Made the3D design for the coupler and buffer by the use of PRO\E. The semiautomatictight-lock coupler adopted spring set for manual separate lock and replacement. Made thestrength analysis for the coupler and buffer key position by the use of ANSYS, got thestress and strain cloud photograph. At the end, the tight-lock coupler and buffer werepassed the join test, pull force of join test and air tight test on the test equipment and thebuffer was passed the capability test, the endure test, the firmly test and tiredness test.
