In2003our country has entered the aging society, and the proportion of the elderlypopulation and growth rate exceeded the level of the world’s aging.2020China’s agingpopulation aged65and over will reach167million people, or about24%of the world’saging population, one in four people in the world are Chinese elderly. In the rapidexpansion of China’s social pension and pension needs of architectural design andconstruction is lagging behind in the background, to explore design methods andthinking of retirement and residential buildings to meet the physical and psychologicalneeds of the elderly relationship between this subject is extremely urgent. Thearchitectural design of future pension to live should no longer stop at merely providingthe elderly the most basic living conditions, more consideration should be daily needsof the elderly rich and variability as well as spiritual needs met. The older material lifeand spiritual life in the pension institutions is being defined and extend old-agearchitecture of this physical environment, so there is room for the necessary forms fromarchitectural design to start, seek humane design solution.This paper examines the current situation in full and abroad in the field of casestudies to establish the scope and methods of the object of the study. By analysis of thecharacteristics of the elderly, summed up the characteristics of the various aspects ofthe elderly corresponding design requirements to prepare made-related design strategycombines the results of the actual experience of case studies in the text. By finishing the literature summarized Japan clarified the evolution and development of residentialbuildings by type of pension Japan, combined with China’s current economic situationin the humanities and social decision on the appropriate level of care at various types ofassistance to the Japanese pension residential buildings for research and analysis, sub-functional layout, public space, living space, nursing unit4section for a detaileddiscussion of examples of design features which summed up these spaces. According tothese scenarios advantages and disadvantages, the paper concludes with a designstrategy more in line with the relevant functional aspects of China ’s space form. Theauthors hope that through this study is to provide the architectural design of futuredomestic pension to live some inspiration and to play the role of reference andguidance, so that older people can enjoy our personalized faster, high-quality livingconditions, to achieve " the basic goal of a dignified retirement."...
