Contact is the weakest link of AC contactor,s reliability. The main contacts of ACcontactor are carrying large current when they switch on and break the load circuit. Thelength of time characteristics and performance quality of electrical contact can be reflectedin the voltage and current waveforms of the main contact and the coil. The electricalcontact parameters and the time characteristic parameters can be extracted from thewaveform of current and voltage of on-off process of contactor,s main contacts. Therefore,we need to study test technology of dynamic performance of AC contactor and collect itscontact signals as well as the core displacement. It is important to study the electric contactperformance and reliability of contactor,s contact.IPC-610H produced by Taiwan Advantech was chosen as one of the test systemhardware, PCI-1712L Data acquisition card produced by Taiwan Advantech was chosen inthis test system. This test system software used the LabVIEW graphical programminglanguage for modular design, including PC data acquisition, Data Storage,data playbackand data processing program modules. Meanwhile the principal computer program has beenwritten to close contactor in different phase angle. Based on the hardware circuit, theexcitation voltage signal, the excitation current signal, three pairs of main contacts signalsand core displacement signal can be also collected displayed, playback and processed. Thispaper analyzed the results of the six-way signal and the software programs extracted thecontact bounce time, opening distance, overtravel characteristic parameters. Also, the phaseangle of the contactor was extracted,compared with the phase angle which was input in thefront panel.finally,the results was verified to be accurate.
