As the rapid development of transportation in our country, asphalt pavement hasbeen extensively used. But the accompanying diseases also brought many problems, especially rutting deformation has become a major corruption form of asphaltpavement in high-grade road. Mineral material is a main component of asphaltmixture, so the characteristic of mineral material has an important impact on theperformance of asphalt mixture. This paper under the back ground of AC-20C surface highway asphalt pavementfrom Yulin to Jiaxian in Shaanxi province. Through laboratory test, this paperpresents the rate of voids in mineral aggregate and CBR ratio to find effect on hightemperature stability of asphalt mixture. Firstly, combining our standards with Baileymethod and using Matlab software to design and choose mineral aggregate gradations.Secondly, using the three parameters to describe different mineral aggregategradations and then doing the orthogonal design for different gradation. Selecting9gradation schemes, and then distinguishing different performance of mineral aggregategradation by CBR test and voids in mineral aggregate test, and then analyzing theeffect of different parameters on mineral aggregate performance, in this paper wefound that CA ratio is significant impact on the mineral aggregate gradation by CBRtest result.Based on the analysis of orthogonal, this paper choosing3significantly differentgradations from mineral aggregate doing asphalt mixture ratio design. The studyfound that asphalt performance of three gradations can meet the requirements ofspecification. Doing asphalt rutting test and dynamic modulus test of each gradationand then comparative analysis against each mineral aggregate performance. The resultshows that mineral aggregate performance have a good correlation with dynamicstability, dynamic modulus and asphalt rutting factor(|E*|/sinĪ†) of asphalt mixture.Through rutting test and SPT dynamic modulus test, this paper found that theperformance of aggregate can be used to describe the high temperature stability ofasphalt mixture in a certain extent.
