In recent years,the rutting prevention and control is an important problem in the constructing high-quality asphalt pavement in Vietnam.According to the rutting actual situation of Vietnam/Da Nang City highway pavement,this research based on the High Modulus Asphalt Concrete(HMAC)technology,studied the feasibility of high modulus asphalt concrete to rut resistance of asphalt pavement in Da Nang City and designed a variety of HMAC mixes.Then the performance of asphalt mixture pavement and the permanent deformation of pavement structure with HMAC were evaluated.This paper made an investigating,studying and analysing the typical road based on environment and pavement condition in Da Nang city of Vietnam.On the basis,according to the functional requirements of HMAC,the modified asphalt mixtures were produced different additives,AP-8 and TPS.The effects of additives content on the high and low-temperature performance of high modulus asphalt mixture such as water resistance and fatigue life and so on were studied.The performance of critical pavement of two kind high modulus asphalt mixtures with different additives contents was obtained.Combined with Vietnam/DaNang City’s typical road environmental using conditions,put forward the high modulus modified asphalt mixture suitable for the Da Nang City,Vietnam.Finally,the permanent deformation of two kind modified asphalt concrete structures with certain load is evaluated by finite element analysis tool.The results show that the performance of high modulus modified asphalt mixture designed in this paper is closely related to the content of additives.With two additive contents,the AP-8 and TPS increased,the road performance of asphalt mixture is improved and had a consistent regularity.AP-8 works better in the improvement of high and low-temperature performance,water stability and anti-deformation performance of asphalt mixture than TPS,while the worse in that of fatigue performance.This paper suggests that asphalt mixture with 0.3%AP-8 or 0.7%TPS additives is suitable for the pavement design in Vietnam/DaNang City.The high modulus modified asphalt mixture in this study can effectively address the rutting and other pavement diseases under high temperature and the rainy climate in Vietnam.Finite element models of two pavement structures were established and mechanically analysed in Abaqus,namely a top layer of AP-8 0.3%and TPS-0.7%modified asphalt mixtures.The analysis results of permanent deformation and stress show that the pavement structure using AP-8 modified asphalt mixture is much superior to TPS modified asphalt mixture in resisting deformation and stress.
