The term “Traffic Management” is used to illustrate the study of the requirements of all users ofthe transportation system and provision to enhance facilities within the constraints of cost androad space. Traffic flow conditions in the Hyderabad city are worst due to the presence of narrowroads, heavy road traffic volumes, roadside encroachments, frequent and unchecked on-streetparking, high percentage of trip attraction in the CBD area due to major commercial activitiesand presence of incompatible land uses, poor physical and geometric form of the road network,and lack of proper law enforcement.Considering these problems in this study, that encompasses a range of approaches and activitiesthat aim to trim-down these short comings to be redressed and road capacity to be increased.Traffic circulation in CBD areas of indigenous cities in developing countries like Hyderabad canonly be improved through paying a little amount of attention towards the “Traffic Management”.This thesis is compiled with eight chapters; each chapter is defined with respect to its title. AsChapter one is the general introduction to the thesis, it details the purpose, objectives and scopeof the study.Brief study of traffic management measures, methods and strategies within the constraint ofCBDs in the light of literature reviewed is carried out in Chapter two, where as Chapter threecovers the constraint of the road network of Hyderabad in detailed and the existing level ofservices in the study area, and Chapter four express lessons learned from China. Chapter fivehighlights the methods adopted to fulfill the aim of this thesis, two methods are adoptedqualitative and quantitative methodologies, qualitative methodology enlighten the literaturereviewed and the quantitative can be said as the methods adopted to collect field data with thehelp of different surveys. The data which was collected while different survey is analyzed andpresented in Chapter six.Chapter seven briefly defines the nature of problem identified in study area with the help surveyand data analyzed, summary of findings considered after analyzing the data and formulating thenature of the problems in the study area, and finally recommendations defines the managementprogram and solution of all those observed problems which found in the network.
