The bridge engineering will achieve it’s goal in21st century which become longspan lightweight and beautiful with the development of the new material, newtechnologies. The coupling effect of the wind and the rain will becomes ansignificant fact for long-span flexible bridge especially located in typhoon coastalbelt, which includes the rain direct impact on the structure and the change of theaerodynamic characteristics with the rain effect. Taking the qiongzhou straitsea-crossing bridge as the background engineering, the wind and rain’scharacteristics in coastal areas are researched based on the field observation in thispaper. This main works of the article include as follows:1、Summarizing wind and rain observation research status in the world.2、Taking the qiongzhou strait bridge as the engineering background, the windand rain field observation system is developed. The wind and rain observation dataat the bridge site has been obtained with the long-term observation.3、The extraction method of wind and rain parameters is proposed which wascorresponding MATLAB program. Selecting the three typhoons (Vicente, kai tak,Son-Tinh), the characteristic parameters for average wind speed, fluctuating wind, wind direction, wind profile pulsation index, the turbulence intensity, gust factor, wind power spectrum, rainfall has been analysed.4、Using probability theory and mathematical statistics method to study thestatistical model of the wind and rain characteristics and it’s coupled statisticalmodel based on the average wind speed in10Minutes、wind attacked angle andturbulence intensity which comes from the three typhoon(Vicente, kai tak,Son-Tinh).
