Along with the continuous enlarging of the chiller marketing, a large number ofchillers are disused because of the limitation of its physical life and technological life.At present, methods to treat with the end-of-life chiller create low benefit, which willpollute the environment and waste resource. Remanufacturing is a type of circulation,which has positive effects on solving energy and environment problems. Chillerremanufacturing should be developing tendency.According to the characteristics and process of remanufacturing, this paperintroduces a model based on experts’ experience using the qualitative and quantitativeanalysis methods, in which recovery, technology feasibility, economic feasibility,environmental benefits and risk of chiller remanufacturing are the evaluation indexes.Visual program in VB language about these is introduced in this paper. Taking acentrifugal chiller as an example, its remanufacturability index is calculated bycomputer. The results of the model provide reference and thinking for the recovery ofchiller.Firstly, analysis of chiller is a prerequisite for remanufacturability evaluation.The chiller parts are divided into3categories according to the status of unit, namelyreuse, remanufacturing or recycle. Taking conventional centrifugal chillers and screwchillers as examples, the structural characteristics and common failure mode of unitsare analyzed from theory. This paper introduces the method of categorized model byusing statistical mathematical, weibull distribution function and reliability function.Reliability is analyzed at the end of its first life and residual life, combined with theparts’ reliability threshold.Secondly, a comprehensive evaluation model of chiller remanufacturing isestablished, that includes recovery, technology feasibility, economic feasibility,environmental benefits and risk. The weight of the factors is calculated by theentropy-weight coefficient method and the subjective influence of the experts’judgment is reduced. Then these indicators are quantified by fuzzy evaluation. Thispaper has provided the detailed calculation methods of remanufacturing evaluation.Finally, to evaluate chiller remanufacturing in a real-time, accurate and rapidway, visual program in VB language about these is introduced in this paper. Taking a centrifugal chiller as an example, its remanufacturability index is calculated bycomputer. The results show that the retrieval index is0.601377, the technical index is0.620891, the economic index is1, the environmental index is0.796526, and the riskindex is0.546901, the remanufacturability index is0.720159. To sum up, theremanufacturing of the centrifugal chiller is high.
