With the rapid development of information technology, modern projection anddisplay technology has developed rapidly also. It has been widely used in the field ofwhether business, office, or home. Accordingly, the market demand for a new type ofcolor-combined prism which is of the merits of simplicity, high efficiency andsuitability for mass production is increasing gradually.This dissertation presents a new design for the combined color prism and alsointroducts it’s fabricating processing on the basis of the the customer’s requirementsand the features of other color-combined prisms. In comparison with other onesformed by multi-prism cemented together, the prism proposed here is of the merits ofsimplicity in structure and ease to the fabrication technologies including the formingand coating. Present dissertation studies the design, optimization and fabricationtechnology of the new prism proposed. On the basis of the user’s requirements, wehave accomplished the design of the new prism in structure, film system, and theother relevant technical parameters as well. We have also accomplished thefabricating, and the optimization and control for various specifications of parameters.The exprimental results show that the technical specifications of the optical devicemeet the customer’s requirements.The chapter one briefly introduces several major projection and displaytechnologies including the basic principle of color-combining imaging, and the relateddesign consideration. The chapter two proposes the new color-combined prism to bedeveloped, presents the design of structure and the implementation of the optical path,and stresses several key fabrication parameters that need to be controlled with anemphasis in the practical fabrication procedure. The chapter three details the wholetechnique process of the prism to be developed including the key techniques in thecold-working process. In the later three chapters, we describe at first how to achievethe color combining and the related principle, and then present the designconsideration for the coating index to be achieved. Subsequently, the coating indexwas designed and optimized by utilizing the TFC software. Finally, the fabricationand production were carried out followed by the prodcut testing and overallperformance assessment. The dissertation is ended with the conclusive remarks andthe outlook for the future work.
