With the rapid development of the economy in China, the development of powerdistribution network and the secure and reliable power supply play important roles in thedevelopment of Chinese rural areas. The distribution power system in the Chinese rural areasare commonly with weak structure, complicated user composition and bad prediction. Therefore, the power distribution network planning for fast developing rural areas arecommon weak points in the power system planning. This thesis studies the middle to long tem planning of the distribute power network inQingxi county of Dongguan and discusses the application of an area partition method. Thetime span of planning is from2013to2020. In the first part of the thesis, the current networkstructure is introduced and the load distribution status are investigated. Then, the future loadlevels in different areas are forcasted according to the local field planning. Based on theaforementioned works, the area partition is carried out for the whole power supply range ofQingxi. At the end of the thesis, the target network structure of each area is designed, withconsideration on the current structure, line path, load property and capacity of each powersupply center. With the work of the thesis, the range of Qingxi is patritioned into58areas, and74linegroups are designed to form the future power distribution structure. Furthermore, talcing intoaccount the uncertainty on location, time and speed of the load development, as well as theuncertainty on city field planning, an transfer scheme from the current network to the futurenetwork ia also suggested, which enhances the flexibility of capital investment and helps toavoid capital waste. The area partition based planning applied in this thesis can avoid overlap of the powersupply areas and provide clear arrangement on the network construction, which provides goodreference for the operation management and planning of the rural distribution power system.
