In recent years, power quality problem has attracted people’s attention gradually. On one hand, with theincreasing scale of power system, the impact of non-linear loads such as rectifier and nonlinear loadsincreased, and lead to the power quality problem, such as grid voltage fluctuation, voltage distortion,voltage flicker, three phase imbalance, quality of power supply decreased, and even affected the safety andstable operation of the power grid. It is the problem to manage power quality that power companies mustface. On the other hand, with the growing popularity of complex electrical equipment which issophisticated and sensitive to power quality, how to provide quality power is becoming a hot research topicfor the power user.After rectifier load connected to the grid, voltage fluctuation, flicker and three phase imbalancegenerated by harmonics and power changes that caused by the rectifier load, it may worsen power qualityof the power supply side and also affect normal use of electricity. Accordance with the relevant nationalstandards,“power quality and technical supervision implementation details of the Guangdong Power GridCorporation”,“power system voltage and reactive power quality management approach of GuangdongPower Grid Corporation” and power quality issues, should take measures to control power quality.In this paper, the company plans to add a rectifier load that connected to the Huizhou grid to expand itsindustrial scale, so the power quality disturbances of the common connection point of the company rectifierload and Huizhou grid are simulated and calculated, then the power quality is also assessed and analyzed.Assessment indicated that the company rectifier load will cause power quality of110kV grid commonconnection point deteriorated. Based on this, this paper proposed the corresponding power quality controlprogram and policy toward power quality disturbances, and the actual treatment effect was analyzed.Indicators show that power quality indicators after rectifier load connected to the grid can meet the nationalstandards by taking control measures.It is important to assess the impact that rectifier load connected to the grid, it had important guidingsignificance to manage power quality problems for Huizhou Power Supply Bureau effectively, it canprovide more high-quality electricity for the power user.
