Study On The Reuse Strategy Of Old Industrial Building In Dongguan

Since the1980s, a short span of twenty years, Dongguan is transformed from atraditional agricultural county into a emerging industrial city which is known as the "worldfactory" and has made brilliant achievements in the development of industrialization andurbanization. Todaythe city scale of Dongguan is constantly expandingover the past threedecades. With the city development and industrial structure adjustment in Dongguan,manymanufacturing enterprises are concentrated to industrial park and migrated to Economicbackwardness area. A lot of vacancy plant is left in the city of Dongguan. According toincomplete statistics, the area of vacancy workshorp in Dongguan has more than10millionsquare meters. In a new round of "three old transformation", the old factory and factorywhich is includedin transformation range is "enormous quantity wide". Dismantling this "nolonger new" architecture and build a new building is not only a huge waste but also cut outthe historical context of the city.In order to solve the contradiction between urban development and urban context,better reuse the old industrial buildings and build a conservation-minded society, this paperwhich combine the special background of city development and characteristics of the oldindustrial buildings in Dongguan point out that a large number of idle old industrial buildingsin Dongguan is precious memory resources and generally has the potentiality of functionand the form transformation according to the contradiction between urban development and"not available"with the development in Dongguan. On the basis of the reference ratio onsuccessful experience at home and abroad,this paper point out that the reuse of old industrialbuildings should turn a small amount reuse of the high-quality goods class industrial historicbuildings into common type of "recycling" of the old industrial buildings.Based on the furtherresearch about the present situation of the reuse of old industrial building and the analysis oftypical cases in Dongguan, the author propose that the strategy of old industrial building’sreuse in Dongguan is based on the Dongguan ""local realities"",comprehensive analyze andconsiderate the influencing factors from two aspects that is urban and architecture. Theselection of the function of the recycle mode should be based on the city’s "features added". After the accurate function orientation, do adaptive strategies of the implement of three stepsofappropriate recycle design, then explore the feasible reuse strategies in order to contributeto the reuse design work in the future in Dongguan and inspire the management thought andpolicy model in relevant departments.Most idle old industrial buildings in the city of Dongguan can be transformed and reused,the key is to analyze produced from,location distribution, history and culture, architecturalfeatures of the existing industrial architecture, analyze and study from the perspective of themultiple value,hierarchical treat, protect it or transform function and improve creativity,develop new industries and realize the organic renewal of the city, improve the vitality of thecity and promote the sustainable development of the city.
