Research On Strategies And Approaches Of The Renovation And Reutilization Of Old Industrial Buildings

Since the21stcentury，China has experienced unprecedentedly rapid development，manycities gradually transformed from “Production City”of the industrial era to “consumer city”ofpost-industrial era，the decline of traditional industries makes many old industrial buildingsidle and abandoned. Old industrial buildings are carrying the history of a city， reflecting theurban development process， renovation and reuse of the old industrial buildings has greatvalue in the sense of cultural， aesthetic，ecological and economic. American andEuropean countries have already gone through the initial stages of exploration and practice，and has matured in the field of renovation and reuse of old industrial building，however，it islack of a deep understanding of the theory and practice of systematic exploration in China.How to understand the renovation and reuse of the old industrial building impact on thequality of city space? How to achieve harmonious coexistence of old and new buildings in thecity space? How to realize its functions as a carrier of culture and history，and diverse cultureof aggregate? How to improve its readability and protect the urban context， reshape the spiritof place and regain historical memory? How to improve the quality of city space further? Allthese questions need architects to think deeply.The essay makes a comprehensive study on theories and practices of renovation andreuse of old industrial buildings，summarizes the experience of foreign and domestic shortage.On this basis， exploring different development models in the level of overall strategy，analyzing the relationships among renovation of old industrial buildings and city space，ecological landscapes，historical contexts， summarizing the reconstruction skills of fa ade，space and architectural volume. And then，making a detailed analysis of a project aboutrenovation of the old industrial buildings which I participated in——Liuzhou industrialmuseum，to test the strategies and tactics.The full text is divided into five chapters. The first chapter discusses the researchbackground，research significance，related concepts and research object，proposes specificresearch methods and research framework papers. The second chapter discusses the greatvalue of renovation and reuse of the old industrial buildings，explorers the theories andpractices both of foreign and domestic in this field. Chapter three and Chapter four are most important. Chapter three makes analysis and summaries on the strategies and skills ofrenovation and reuse of the old industrial buildings in three aspects：overall strategy，urbandesign and single building. The fourth chapter researches the project which I participated in tosummarize the overall process of renovation of the old industrial buildings， tests thestrategies and tactics which are summarized in the third chapter. Chapter five is a conclusion，reflects the project I participated，and explores the development prospects of renovation andreuse of the old industrial buildings in China.
