Because of the uncertainty of the geologic information in the front of tunneldriving face, there are many geological disasters, such as landslide, gushing water,sudden mud, rock burst etc, in the tunnel excavating process, which cause theenormous economic losses and even casualties. In order to ensure the reasonable andthe safety of tunnel excavation, the advanced geological prediction has been becomean indispensable step in tunnel driving. At the moment, the prediction methods athome and abroad are mainly of geological analysis, forcecast exploration method andgeophysical prospecting method. The geophysical prospecting method includes TSPmethod, tunnel vertical seismic profiling (TVSP) method, true reflection tomography(TRT) method, ground-penetrating radar method, HSP method, land sonar method,high-density electrical method, BEAM method and so on. In this dissertation, theTSP geological prediction method, commonly used in the tunnel construction, isstudied.The TSP advanced prediction system is designed for the tunnel geologicaladvanced prediction, to predict tunnel face or regional geological conditions by usingthe nature of the reflection of seismic waves generated in the non-uniform geologicalbody. It can predict the long-distance geological conditions tunnel driving face: suchas soft rock, the geological fault zone and tectonic belt. In general, it can accuratelyand effectively predict the range of100~150m in front of the tunnel driving face,while in the hard rock can be as long as200m. It can provide detailed geologicalinformation for the tunnel construction, and ensure the safety and quality of tunnelconstruction.This dissertation studies the application of TSP200system in the tunnelgeological prediction, introduces the theoretical basis, the principles and methods ofthe TSP methods. By analysing data acquisition, data processing and evaluation ofthe TSP200system, the methods to determine the observing systems and acquisition parameters for different geological conditions are proposed, and the analysis of thepurpose, method and parameters for each module of the data processing is completedfurther. By contrasting on the TSP prediction results and excavation, an evaluationmethod is brought up, which is the comprehensively analysis of the mechanicalparameters, reflection characteristics and engineering experiences. In addition, bydiscussing forecasting problems of TSP system, analysing from data acquisition, dataprocessing and evaluation, the reason for the prediction error is summarized, as wellas targeted solution. Finally, the accuracy and validity of the TSP200system areverified by two engineering examples of the TSP200system applied in the actualwork.
