Investigations On The Landscape Of Shanghai Urban Park Entrances

Entrance is an integral part of the urban park, it is not only a place withcomplex functions, but also the connection point between urban park and thecity space, it is also the first space sequences to feel when visitors enteringthe park. Therefore, the design of an urban park entrance has great affectson the perception of recreationists. Currently, the study of the urban parkentrance are mostly concentrated on the entry space components, entrancefeatures and architectural designs, the environment and recreationistspsychological, and other aspects of architectural forms, and the study oflandscape design on the park entrance is relatively scarce. Therefore, thispaper will take Shanghai urban park entrance as examples to make acomprehensive evaluation of the quality of its landscape, in order to explorethe potential requirements of urban residents, and also create apeople-oriented and sustainable urban park entrance space,while it can alsoprovide some reference for the same type of researches.This paper will select eleven of the most representative Shanghai urbanPark as research objects based on the "Social Research" theory, usingAHPand comprehensive index method to establish the landscape qualityevaluation model of urban park entrances,then investigate the basic informations including the number and distribution aspects of theentrance,the traffic convergence way, the entrance site settings and theancillary facilities.After that,this paper will calculate the Landscape qualityevaluation factors of each park entrances based on the landscape qualityevaluation model.The results shows that only Huang Xing Park, ZhongshanPark and the New Town Center Park are on Class I (excellent),only CenturyPark is on class II (good),and the rest were graded on Class III (general), theoverall landscape quality is not good.The main innovation of this paper is: First,studies urban park entranceon the perspective of the landscape qualities and establishes the landscapequality evaluation model to make up for the lack of research in the field;thenby using on-site survey to obtain a relatively objective assessment of data tomake sure the results have more credibility;at last give suggestions forimprovements and also provides a reference for the design of urban parkentrances in the future.Community parks and specialized classes Park is not included in thescope of the study, so this paper has some regional and limitations; the studyalso only from the perspective of landscape design, therefore, the study ofrelated fields need follow-up supplements.
