Product Feature Description In User-highly-involved Design

With the rapid development of modern information technology andengineering, the maturity of market, the diversity of users’ demands andneeds, the connotation, techniques and methods of product design haveundergone profound changes. Under the guidance of user-oriented design,the extent of user’s participation in design process is becoming moredeeply.However, there is a serious disunity between the description ways ofuser and designer. The UCD design methods in the past improve theinconsistency of user’s and designer’s cognition way to some extent, butuser still lacks the opportunity to participate in product language constructs,and ultimately is not involved in the expression of more products becauseof a still adhering to the usual elite-entrusted generator culture.With the development of information technology, the modern productdesign activities are totally different from the past in the aspects of patternand technology. Especially with the further development and popularity ofmicro-manufacturing, user can get more highly-involved in the productdesign and manufacturing process. During the design process, user notonly provides his/her own opinion, design knowledge, but also participatesinto the design process, while designer is not limited to the traditionalproduct design implement, but changes to define the product generate rule.The topic of this paper focus on the product feature description inuser-highly-involved participatory design. How to construct a productdescription language in order to allow user and designer come to a unifiedcognitive form and allow user to better participate in the design system isthe key of this paper.
