During The Period Of The Republic Of China In Beijing Temple Architectural Heritage Protection And Utilization

For the continuous development of human society, belief is one of the importantpowers to support human’s survival and progress. For a long time, religion has always beenan important part of faith. In the west, the concept of science and technology as well ashumanities has affected other aspects of society, meanwhile has also infiltrated the religiousarchitecture design. But there is little change in Chinese Buddhist architecture of all time.The architectural heritage of cultural relics is precious intangible cultural heritagewhich is given by history. It is an important characterization of ancient civilization in therealistic society, as well as the crystallization of diligence and wisdom of the workingpeople in ancient times. It is irrefragable and irreplaceable, not only belongs to ourgeneration, but also belongs to the future generations. Temple is the important carrier o fBuddhism.Over years, the domestic and overseas experts and scholars have made unremittingresearch on ancient Chinese Buddhism, and have made rich achievements. But so far, thereis little academic on ancient Chinese temple, especially in the study of the Ming Dynastytemple, while specializing in Zhihua Temple courtyard is much more limited.This paper based on the rich historical and cultural resources of Zhihua Temple, andhas reviewed the previous research results. As it is mentioned in the petition which wassubmitted to the Government of the Republic of China by Ministry of Internal Affairs:“There are many temples, many monks and Taoist priest all over the country. All long,there is always no accurate survey, no plan of reorganization, so as to no discipline, and tobe on the wane. As the beginning of political tutelage, we need to start the detailed statisticsand investigate immediately. Religion among all the matters has particularly complexrelations, so consolidation and improvement should be done without delay. Registrationmatters in fact are the first task.”The text has made a serious discussionand analysis on theprotection and utilization of Zhihua Temple in the period of the Republic of China.
