Study Of Application Of Xi’an Historical Traditional Elements In Public Environmental Art

During the recent years, our modernization construction has got greataccomplishment with rapid urbanization. But at the same time it is also creating someproblems. With the development of the city, the new things keep on replacing the oldones. During the process, a lot of cultural heritage, such as traditional buildings andhistorical sites has faded gradually. It’s a great loss for us. Because these vanishedhistorical heritage contains valuable traditional culture. They are the crystallization ofhuman civilization. With the development of the “globalization”, a great number ofwestern modern technology and ideas have come into China, which has been pursuedblindly. More and more regional culture has been gradually replaced. The situation of“different cities have the same looks” is becoming more and more serious. To save thehistoric relics and awaken city regional culture characteristics are the most importantand urgent problems in contemporary public environmental designing now.This paper will start with the historical blocks which are full of traditional andlocal characteristics. Then sort out the history of the city, and collect the traditionalelements in these areas systematically at the sane time. It aims to use the traditionalelements more correctly and clearly according to their shapes, patterns, materials andcolors. Besides, the paper will be guarded by the theories of the public environmentdesigning which is the summary of the functions of the public environment. With thesetheories, and combining with the examples in Beiyuanmen Street and Shuyuanmen, thepaper will analyze how to apply the traditional elements into the design of publicenvironment in historical blocks. In the end, according to the reality of human historyand regional culture status, the paper will come back to Xi’an to analyze theapplication of the traditional elements. What’s more, it not only aims to think about how to design the public environment with the continuity of history and accordancewith the times, but also aims to serve the people much better.The author hopes that the study of this subject can deal with the problem of thecultural heritage and regional environmental designing of the city during thedevelopment of the modernization construction. And the paper is expected to be usefulin making the city’s natural environment and the humanities environment moreharmonious so that Xi’an can be developed better. What’s more, the author greatlywishes there will be more and more cities, like Xi’an, can integrate the traditionalculture and regional characteristics and develop better.
