Research On Spacial Style And Decorative Style Of Ch Urch Architectural Remains In Huaiyuan In Late Qing Dynasty

The church building in late Qing Dynasty(1840-1911)is a hot and difficult issue which is brought into a sharp focus by academia.In recent years,the research on the church building in the coastal city shows a rising trend.Huaiyuan County as a inner port city in Anhui Province is not so open as coastal city,but due to its convenient water and land transportation and unique location conditions,and the church building also owned considerable size at that time.However,quite a lot of the building has been damaged recentlyand the remaining is just a part as the consequence of the economic development and construction of the city.These buildings are usually divided into three categories: church schools,church hospitals and churches,among which Christian architecture occupies a vast majority and only one Italian Catholic church is a Catholic building.This is closely related to the success of Christianity in Huaiyuan: during in the period that Christianity did missionary work,they not only carried out civil construction on a large scale,but also did the charity widely,which laid a good foundation for the development in the next step,and these schools and hospitals promoted the spread of Christianity while bringing benefits to the local people.The church buildings of Huaiyuan in late Qing Dynasty,which is an important part of Huaiyuan modern architecture,have distinctive regional characteristics.This paper,on the one hand,hopes to make a systematic record and intuitive expression of Huaiyuan church buildings relics through the collection and analysis of past and current data of the church building.On the other hand,it hopes to start from the structural style of the building to the artistic style of decoration to explore how the Western architectural style collided and merged with the Chinese architectural style and explore the unique artistry of Huaiyuan Church.This paper is aimed at Huaiyuan church buildings in Late Qing Dynasty including church schools,church hospitals and churches.Firstly,outline the remaining church buildings from the distribution and main features of architecture based on the records of county annals,historical materials and so on.Secondly,the paper,based on the case and field survey,analyzed and discussed the layout and modeling of church schools,hospitals and churches and analyzed the interior andexterior landscape decoration to explore its artistic style from the perspective of architecture and art.Then the paper further discussed localization characteristic of church architecture in Huaiyuan influenced by the Western culture and analyzed aesthetic psychology and exploration in the construction period through the comparison of the school and the hospital in terms of Chinese architecture style;Finally,it summarized the influence of church architecture on contemporary culture and art from amalgamation of Chinese culture and Western architectural culture,modern building decoration and local cultural tourism.
