Research On The View Design Of Modern Landscape Architecture

The integration of architecture and environment is the primary goal that modernlandscape architecture should achieve. Concentrating on shape, space, material, etc.,architects have done a lot to explore the way of making building part of nature. Butthose are all matters of style and form. This thesis took "view" as a starting point, andintroduced "people" into the dualistic relationship of "architecture" and "nature". Thusthe issue of integration of architecture and nature was transformed into the issue of"watching and being watched" among architecture, nature and people. By means ofmodern architecture, to guide people’s sight and create a pleasant, positive aestheticexperience, forming a good interaction between people and natural environment.On the basis of a large number of case studies, this thesis analyzed successful andunsuccessful view design of modern landscape architecture and came to a conclusion ofthree strategies with a internal logical connection among them.a) Detailed view design. In order to improve the view design of modern landscapearchitecture that is too simple and crude, this thesis proposed to learn from classicalaesthetics rules to conduct detailed view design. Specific measures included: to form thevolume according to the characteristics of landscape, to make visual choice by usingview frame, to strengthen the depth perception of scenery and the correspondencebetween interior and external scenery, etc. There are two ideas among them that israther innovative: use of the composition rules of visual art to improve the compositionof frame view, the architecture with the feature of “self-watching”.b) Defamiliarized view design. This thesis introduced the literature theory of“defamiliarization” into view design and discussed the possibility of creatingextraordinary viewing experience by means of architecture, extending the aestheticprocess, leading to the re-enchantment of ordinary landscape, improving the quality ofview. Specific measures included: to change the common view position and direction,to change the form of view frame, to conceal some parts of the view properly, or to usereflection, perspective, filter, etc.c) Humanized view design. Environmental Aesthetics deems that nature shouldn’tbe enjoyed like a work of art. View design should be combined with human activities, thus making landscape part of people’s life. In this section, this thesis studied thecharacteristics and laws of human behavior in natural environment so as to break thestrong constraint which is quite common in the view design of modern landscapearchitecture, providing a rich, diverse, lively and inclusive viewing experience. Further,to create such kind of viewing experience of “people watched by people”, lettingpeople’s activities become an integral part of natural environment.Five buildings in Xuzhou Quanshan Forest Park were taken as examples to verifythe conclusions of this thesis, which proved that starting from view design is aneffective method of designing modern landscape architecture. This research not only hasacademic value, but also has pratical significance.
