The Air Defense Basement (ADB) use flat-slab system frequently. However, comparewith common flat-slab above the ground, there are several special aspects in the flat-slab ofADB. Although structure engineers can finish the design of flat-slab by some finiteelement software, the lack of acquaintance to special aspects in flat-slab of ADB will leadto the wrong result. Hence, by taking the flat-slab of ADB, the paper discuss specialaspects and related practical analysis methods, which can provide help and guide to thestructure designer.At first, the paper summarizes the process of designing flat-slab by SLABCAD, offerssteps of calculating section size and load, and uses the finite element software SLABCADto analysis and design by taking the actual engineer as an instance. According to the resultconducting by computer, technical drawings have been made. Based on the analysis ofcomputer, the practical analysis methods relating to special aspects have been researched:(1) In consideration of the effect by the angle of column-cup, an approximate columnanalogy method is used to solve the design problem of the tapered column-cup withsupport plate. Compared with traditional column analogy method, not only the equivalentframe method has been more simple and more accurate, but also the rigid length、flexuralrigidity、moment transfer coefficient are calculated precisely.(2) In consideration of thickfloors and surrounding walls, according to the rigidity of columns, walls and floors, thedistribution coefficients kept in the standard have been corrected. In the end, the result ofSLABCAD and two practical analysis methods are compared. Advantages anddisadvantages of each method are discussed.The improvement of practical analysis methods in ADB can provide help for the rigidzone of floor-column joint and special rigidity ratio in the flat-slab of ADB, and can alsoprovide convenience to structure designers to know mechanical characters and master theclear mechanics concept in the flat-slab.
