In order to realize green lighting, the modernization of street lamp lighting system is required to full power operate in the pedestrian peak and low power operate in few people of the night to achieve the purpose of energy saving. Although the electronic ballast connected with illumination source has a dimming function in the current, most of them are using analog dimming, it is difficult to achieve better digital dimming function. The rapid development of computer and communication technology makes the realization of the monitoring system of street lamp with high degree of automation and reliable operation. Relying on the intelligent network management of streetlight monitoring and control system, the electronic ballast dimming function is controlled in the remote control center, which can improve the management level, reduce maintenance costs, and save energy. A modem chip PL3106 with built-in enhanced 8051 compatible microprocessor is adopted in this paper, which is used for digital dimming controlling design of lamp electronic ballast. Combined with modern communication technology, a remote centralized control scheme is proposed.Firstly the whole design scheme of intelligent street lamp control system is discussed, including the selection of communication mode and carrier chip, and the overall structure of the dimming control systems is studied.Secondly, according to the working principle, the structure and dimming method of the adjustable electrical ballast, the circuit composing of the EMI filter, rectification, power factor correction, inverter and control unit are designed.Thirdly, combined with modern communication technology, the low-voltage power line channel properties are analyzed detailedly in this paper. At the same time, the modulation technology suitable for PL3106 chip is studied, and the communication circuit is designed. The circuit includes transmitting unit, receiving unit, coupled unit, power supply unit, download serial communication unit, etc. Some circuits are simulated and verified by experimental. The results show that the circuit can effectively send and receive signals.Finally, the programming of the software part is designed. Through the special download device, the program is burned in PL3106. And combined with PC monitor interface MCGS, the remote digital control of the electronic ballast for street lamps is realized.
