As One important part of the watershed ecological compensation mechanism, ecological compensation pattern solve some important problems, such as what, how much and how to pay. To ensure watershed ecological compensation mechanism to work normally and play its’due role, both the actual conditions of the upstream and downstream areas have to be considered in building rational compensation patterns.Miyun Reservoir is the only surface drinking water source. In order to coordinate the utilization of water resources between the downstream and upstream areas, Beijing had carried out various forms of compensation cooperation in upstream areas. The central government also had implemented a number of ecological construction project. In this paper, the existing watershed ecological compensation patterns status and its’ affects to household in ecological compensation programs is analyzed from the perspective of compensation object in the Miyun Reservoir upstream region Chicheng County of Hebei Province. Based on the study conclusion, rational proposals was presented to provide reference for the future compensation patterns. This paper includes three aspects:1)analyzing the existing ecological policy and its implementation in upstream areas of Miyun Reservoir by finding relevant literature and policy;2)analyzing the existing ecological compensation patterns conditions and its’affects to households, using the data of households’ productive and living conditions and participating of ecological compensations in 2013, in Chicheng County;3)empirically analyzing the influence of different ecological compensation patterns to households’ willingness to participation using the Multiple regression econometric model, take the Grain to Green Project for example.Based on the above analysis, the conclusions are:l)from a macro perspective, the existing compensation standards are lack of rational basis and does not reflect the true value of water;2)from the microscopic perspective, freedom of the households’ participation in ecological compensation, ecological compensation standards, technical guidance in the process of compensation all have the positive impact on households’ willingness to participate. According to the conclusions, we must establish a reasonable ecological compensation pattern system to improve the existing ecological compensation patterns.
