Research Of Identifiability Of Urban Entrance Road Landscape In Chongqing’s Districts And Counties

Urban entrance road is a special location of urban boundaries, and it’s the transitional space between urban area and non-urban area. It is an important place which exchanges information, material and energy between unban area and the outside world. As an important component of the urban entrance which to show the window of the city image is the road to be political significance, economic significance and regional culture significance. It has an important role to accomplish the following functions. First, it can improve the environmental quality. Second, it can make the city more attractive. Third, it shows the city’s characteristics and its culture. Forth, it helps the city’s development in economic, because it led to the rapid development of modern economy and has brought the huge impact of the construction and development with city’s rising and building. However, facing the phenomenon "Thousand Cities Have One Side" of the urban landscape, the study on urban entrance road landscape which combines with the local natural and cultural characteristics and highlights the identity is imperative. In recent years, the rapid development of urban entrance road in Chongqing’s districts and counties has been subjected to more and more attention from all walks of life with unique personality and cultural charm.First of all, this paper is based on both domestic and overseas research. The CIS image recognition system of the city, urban road landscape design and other related knowledge are the theoretical basis for putting forward the theory of identifiably of urban entrance road landscape. In addition, take the Geography Identification(GI), Visual Identification(Ⅵ), Humanity Identification(HI), Behavior Identification(BI) as the landscape identifiable factors of urban entrance road.Secondly, it takes a survey among 15 urban entrance roads of 11 Chongqing’s districts and counties. It selects eight roads that are valuable and typical according to completion time of those roads, landscape effect, social influence and other factors. Additionally, unscramble four elements of identifiably of urban entrance road landscape in Chongqing’s districts and counties. It macroscopically analysis Geographic Identification from natural environment, landform, and land usage on both sides of the road, the relationship between road and the surrounding environment, road boundary, landmarks, ect; Visual Identification from architectural style and form, space form and the line of sight, greening configuration and characteristic, landscape sketch; Humanity Identification from the hidden meaning and dominant meaning; Behavior Identification from behavior of government, society and the public of urban entrance road landscape. It summarizes similarities and existing problems. Thirdly, it sums up measures and methods to approve urban entrance road landscape. Finally, it summarizes the research achievements, shortcomings, the insufficiency and prospects.In this paper, it reveals the characteristics of urban entrance road landscape in Chongqing’s districts and counties from the survey. The measures and methods to approve urban entrance road landscape can bring city managers and designers a new set of theoretical reference and research methods. And making the government, the public and society to pay more attention to it, which can play a role of guidance and reference. Finally it plays the mission of city image window, bring city new and unique appearance, show the city vitality, promote the development of high quality urban public space. Certainly, this paper plays a certain enlightenment function for landscape design which is related to urban entrance space.
