Research On Outdoor Landscape Design For Nursing Homes

The twenty-first Century is the era of population aging, China is the most populous country in the world. As time goes on, China has become the most elderly country, the problem of aging population in all aspects of our life is becoming increasingly prominent. With the change of pension idea, old people gradually come out from the traditional old-age home model, they prefer to live in nursing homes and other institutions. Therefor, it gets more attention on the landscape design of outdoor environment to improve the nursing home.This article is divided into five parts. In the first part, first of all, do study and research at home and abroad about status of environmental landscape for nursing homes. The second part, study the relevant concepts and theories, analyzing the characteristics and needs of the elderly in physiological, psychological and behavior, to provide basis for later discussion. In the third part, do on-spot investigation on the existing nursing homes and pension institutions in Ya’ an, the western regional city, and its surrounding areas, summary and analyze the common problems, such as the lack of green space, space for outdoor activities and public facilities; and single landscape type, too straight of path design and no special groups targeted. In the fourth part, put forward the basis and principle of outdoor environment landscape design for the nursing home, then sum up the characteristics of the physical and mental needs and behavior for old people, find the way in landscape design to enrich the life of them. Finally, regard the Ya’an Kang Ti Social Pension Service Center outdoor environment landscape design as the study of the theoretical and practical, in order to create a healthy and comfortable nursing home, which can also improve the life quality of the elderly.
