As a typical Micro-Pattern-Gaseous-Detector (MPGD), GEM has been widely concerned by particle physics, with its high-count rate, good time resolution and energy resolution, spatial resolution. Then, It is widely used in medical imaging, astrophysics experiments, synchrotron radiation detection etc for its excellent performance. Institute of high-energy physics (IHEP) also carried out research work on many aspects of the GEM detector.Due to the problem of readout method, trigger mode, and miniaturization, Investigation of GEM Detector using linear discharge TOT chip as readout has been carried out. Based on the extensive investigation and research of GEM detector, I have participated several aspects of the work, such as the design of the detector; the assembly and preliminary test; The Investigation of HV power supply solution for GEM detector; And the performance test of the GEM detector.The most important work of the paper is the performance test of the GEM detector.Getting 32 strips from the assembled GEM detector, lead to CASAGEM and TOT. Through the test of linear, baseline, threshold of TIMPIC, and timing relationship between signals, confired the feasibility of GEM Detector using linear discharge TOT chip as readout. On this base, tested energy resolution and space resolution of the GEM detector, the energy resolution is 13.08%, the space resolution is 196.6μm. |
