The yard operations on container terminals play an important role in the container terminal operations, as the key process of the whole container transportation system. Because of the complexity of the yard operations, it is the key problem how to establish a multiagent-based simulation model and develop its system.This thesis shows with the understanding of the spatial layout, container rehandling operation, equipment scheduling, gate layout and the multi-Agent development in the container terminal filed, how we can build a simulation system of yard operation of container terminal using simulation and modeling method of Agent based on JADE. The main research work of this thesis include:(1) System analysis of yard operation of container port. With the understanding of basic constitution and interior layout, this thesis analyzes the key process in detail and model staff Agents, facility Agents and equipment Agents. (2) Simulation system designing of multi-Agent in yard operation of container terminal based on JADE. In this thesis, the basic framework of the simulation system is constituted by the JAVA layer, JADE layer, control layer and application layer. Also, this thesis designs the control layer and application layer in detail using multi-Agent modeling and simulation technology. (3) The realization of simulation system. Based on the former research, this thesis builds a multi-Agent simulation system of yard operation of container terminal based on JADE.The design and realization of the simulation system focus on the whole yard operation of container terminal. Starting from the integrity of the yard operation system, we build a simulation model of the yard operation of container terminal using modeling and simulation method based on Agent. We simulate the yard operation condition by building staff Agents, facility Agent and equipment Agents with the autonomous behavior feature of Agent. Based on the successfully construction and processing of the simulation platform, we test the feasibility of multi-Agent simulation system based on JADE. Meanwhile, we provide scientific basis for the management decision of yard operation of container terminal with reasonable allocation of yard operation resource. It helps improve the utilization of staff, facilities and equipment, and improve the throughput of container.
