The Study On The Landscape Space Characteristics And Protection Of Ancient Village Of Sanzhou, Changting County

Ancient villages are the treasurous heritage of human wisdom, yet with the fast development of social economy, they are confronted with multiple threats. Taking acient villages’ issues of dwindled space, decaying architecture and the dillema between village development and protection, this paper take the Sanzhou Village in Changting County as a case analysis, searching into the landscape space of it, aiming to get a thorough understanding of the design techniques of its planning layout, spacial utilization and landscape management. It is hoped that this paper will make a contribution to the inheritance of cultural landscape in the west part of Fujian Province and promote the theoretical development of inheriting, developing and protecting ancient villages.(1)With reference to the landscape space research of ancient village of Sanzhou, by means of scene mapping, spatial structure analysis and spatial type analysis, the landscape space of village is divided into two parts:landscape space inside and outside of village. Besides the landscape space is analyzed from aspects of space structure, space type, space composing elements and space sequences, and conclusions are made as follows:(2)Generally speaking, the village shows the space layout of "water, field, village,forest and mountain", which is consistent with the external natural environment, yet because of the human and Fengshui influence it has the shape of a boat. The old street is taken as the principle axis, joined with circles around family ancestral halls.(3)The internal landscape space is integrated with roads, waters and landscape, showing a respect to nature. Internal space is arranged orderly, with roads and allays as its space skeleton and ancestral halls as life center for etiquette and living. Square space, green are and entrance space construct the communal activity space, and taking advantage of landscape, human defense system is built,yet psychological defense system constructed by temples and halls.(4)Two space sequential routes integrate in parallel and space sequence take roads as the skeleton, mingling the space arrangements of architecture, water and squares. Thus a spatial transition of "open-half open-half close-close" is presented from the borders of the village to the inner parts with rich spatial sequence and clear spatial hierarchy.Landscape space here shows respect to spatial conditions, culture characteristics and human-friendly space design, which offers rich reference for the landscape design for modern cities.Addressing protection of landscape space in Sanzhou village, this paper starts with its current problems, analyzes its landscape space and proposes the protecting principles and strategies for the landscape space. Different protection strategies are made according to differed types of landscape space. It is believed that protection shall be made in the premise of respecting traditional culture, history and unique folk culture so as to inherit the traditional culture of landscape space of the village.
