Research On The Renewal Strategy Of Shrinking Old Industrial Citiesbased On Green Infrastructure

Many cities in western developed industrial countries have been suffering from population loss and economic decline successively since the 21 st century. Recently, urban shrinkage as a widespread and long-lasting development model in global has drawn extensive international concern, while it has still been ignored in our country. In fact, local shrinkage has arisen in the context of rapid urbanization in China mainly because of the industrial depression resulting from global financial crisis, the beginning of the “Lewis turning point” and the polarization in the process of urbanization. Thereinto, some small and medium-size old industrial cities have declined more conspicuously with resource exhaustion, outdated technology, investment shortage and unreasonable industrial restructuring.With the improvement of sustained development and green infrastructure, increasing international researchers and practitioners turn their attention to the relationship between urban shrinkage and urban greening, and explore the feasibility and approach of shrinking cities renewal planning based on green infrastructure. On the basis of the analysis on the relative international theoretical research and project practice, this paper which focuses on the shrinking old industrial cities in our country summarizes the challenges and implementing points of the renewal planning based on green infrastructure. Furthermore, the feasibility of the application of green infrastructure is discussed and the renewal planning method system is built in order to provide with a new angle for the regeneration and sustained development of shrinking old industrial cities in our country.There are four parts in this study,The first part introduces comprehensively causes, development course, related theory evolutionary and renewal planning of shrinking cities.The second part summarizes the basic characteristic, planning method of green infrastructure and elaborates urban green infrastructure. Then, the author analyses the international theoretical study and project practice of the renewal planning of shrinking cities based on green infrastructure and concludes the challenges and implementing points.The third part, with the summary of the shrinkage of some cities in our country, analyzes the shrinking problem Chinese old industrial cities suffering. Based on the general introduction of relative issues or theories, the author discusses the innovative significance of the application of green infrastructure to old shrinking cities in our country.The forth part identifies the renewal planning target and content of shrinking old cities in our country based on green infrastructure, and describes the planning procedure,including investigation and assessment, planning and design, and implementation and feedback...
