China is stepping into the aging society because of rapid growth of aging population. It is urgent to solve the problem of elderly travel difficulty. Elderly mobility scooter meets the travel need of elderly. Elderly mobility scooter is simple to operate and is environmental protection. The industry of elderly mobility scooter has a large consumer market, the future development has great prospect.The Brushless DC Motor (BLDCM) has been widely applied to elderly mobility scooter, because it features high efficiency, long lifetime, wide adjustable-speed and so on. BLDCM control system is the core of elderly mobility scooter, controls the operation of elderly mobility scooter safely and smoothly, so research on BLDCM control system has important value. Through the research on elderly mobility scooter and motor control system, this thesis designs BLDCM control system based on intelligent control algorithm for elderly mobility scooter. In addition, the thesis adds functions for the requirements of elderly mobility scooter, for example energy regenerative braking, emergency braking to avoid obstacle, cruise control.Firstly, based on the principal theory of BLDCM and the requirements of elderly mobility scooter, the overall plan of the BLDCM control system for elderly mobility scooter is presented. Then, this thesis introduces function of the control system modules.Secondly, the thesis analyses speed control methods of BLDCM, designs Fuzzy-PID based on the PID and Fuzzy Logical Control. Results of the simulation based on the BLDCM control system simulation platform built in MATLAB/SIMULINK indicate the Fuzzy-PID has adaptive ability to disturbance compared with PID.Thirdly, the thesis designs hardware circuits of elderly mobility scooter motor control system based on Digital Signal Processor(DSP) TMS320F28035 and Smart Power Module(SPM), illustrates the main function circuits. Then the thesis accomplishes software design of control system on hardware platform.Last, the whole system is tested to verify the correctness and reliability of the design scheme.
