With the rapid development of Chinese railway undertaking, the railway power consumption load is also growing. And as the power source of railway power supply, the status of traction substation becomes more and more important. The electrical connection works as the important equipment to guarantee the unblocked electrical connection of equipment in the traction substation, during its long-term operation, equipment failure problems occur sometimes caused by its temperature anomalies, which can be a big threat to the safety and stability of the traction substation power supply. And at present, the method of measuring the temperature of electric connections in the traction substation still remains the artificial detection level, and this method may lead to the misdetection or wrong detection situations, which makes it ineffectively to discover and eliminate the hidden danger in time.In this paper, based on the analysis of temperature measuring characteristics of the traction substation electrical connections, with the integrated temperature measuring device and the wireless communication technology, the online monitoring system of traction substation electrical connection temperature changes is realized; with the artificial neural network, the real-time predicting system of traction substation electrical connection temperature can be realized. With the two main function combined, a complete real-time online temperature measurement management system can be constructed. Firstly, according to functional requirements and non-functional requirements analysis of the temperature measurement management system, the C/S system frame is chosen to be used to form the system’s overall architecture. Secondly, the method of modular design is chosen to complete the system design, and function modules of the system can be divided into the following:the log module, the system user management module, electrical connection temperature collection terminal management module, the real-time temperature data acquisition module, graphics module, alarm module, historical data access module, report exporting module and the BP neural network predicting module. Finally, by means of Visual Basic6.0, Access database and the mixed programming technology of the Visual Basic and Matlab, function modules of a complete system is realized through programming, and each function module can work both independently and connectively, to achieve the temperature real-time online monitoring of traction substation electrical connection and real-time forecasting warning function.The temperature measurement management system of electrical connection in traction substation can realize the real-time online monitoring of the devices, and form a complete set of monitoring and early warning mechanism, which can effectively reduce traction substation electricity safety accident probability caused by electrical connection failure and provide the security barrier for the steady progress of railway undertaking.
