The development of aviation industry is an important embodiment of a nation’s science, technology, industry and national defense capability. As pivotal component of aeroplane, the aero-engine mainly affects the performance, reliability and economy of the aircraft. In designing, manufacturing, assembling and maintaining processes of aero-engine, the demands of minimize design cycle, high quality and high precision have become the serious challenges in aviation industry, modular design and manufacture are the important approaches to meet these challenges. This thesis conducts the research on key technologies of the modular design such as modular division method of aero-engine, presents a GA method on modularizing the aero-engine and carries out the application research on the modular design of the aero-engine turbine rotor.The specific research contents include:(1) The existing modular methods are analyzed, then, the mathematical model of the aero-engine modular problem is presented on the basis of aero-engine modular problem description and complexity analysis,.(2) The aero-engine DSM model, which is the connection relationships matrix of aero-engine parts, is established. Firstly, based on the connection relationships of aero-engine parts, the rules of qualitative to quantitative transformation are defined. Secondly, the digital matrix, which is the basis of analyzing the modular aero-engine, is used to express the aero-engine DSM model. Finally, an aero-engine turbine rotor is used as an example to illustrate the application of the DSM theory.(3) Aero-engine modular approach was proposed based on DSM. Firstly, aero-engine DSM modular goals are put forward. Secondly, matrix transformation method is used to modular the DSM of aero-engine. Thirdly, based on the analysis of result of the modularized aero-engine, the optimum module is selected. Finally, an aero-engine turbine rotor is used as an example to illustrate the application of matrix transformation method in the DSM of aero-engine.(4) According to the characteristics of the aero-engine, based on MDL (minimum description length)and DSM, a GA(Genetic Algorithm)is presented to analyze the aero-engine modularization. Firstly, the optimization objective function is built based on the DSM model and MDL theory. Secondly, GA is used to complete the optimal clustering automatically. Finally, an aero-engine turbine rotor is used as an example to illustrate the application of the automatic optimal clustering method.(5) To verify the theory, methods and technologies above, a prototype is developed via mixed programming of VS2010 and MATLAB. Algorithm codes of MATLAB language are compiled, and then externally called by C++ files. Finally an aero-engine turbine rotor is used to illustrate the parts and components modular process.
