It is well known that the duration of asphalt pavement is commonly designed to be ranged from 12 to 15 years. Under the combined action of load, climate and other unknown effects during its operating period, the asphalt pavement is likely to be damaged more or less. When driving comfort level and safety is subjected to certain limitation, maintenance for the asphalt pavement is required. Every year, the total length and width of maintenance for asphalt pavement is considerably huge. The reclaimed asphalt pavement material will cause serious pollution unless it can have appropriate recycling, and it’s also sort of great wasting resources. Based on rough statistics, more than 2.5 billion RMB will be saved every year on material expenses, if the reclaimed asphalt pavement material has been recycled effectively.Firstly, this research conducts a nationwide survey about the asphalt pavement condition. The total approximate amount of asphalt pavement which needs to be maintained is determined. The probable economic profit on recycling asphalt pavement material has been evaluated. The pros and cons of the existing hot mix and warm mix technology on asphalt pavement also have been compared. Moreover, the feasibility and merits of applying warm mix technology have been debated. The present development of warm mix technology has also been described. The existing warm mix technology has already been sorted. Technical research and analysis on warm mix asphalt confirms the applied theory on three types of warm mix additives:foaming type, viscosity and surface active agent type of warm mix home and abroad. Based on the application of warm mix technology in domestic market, Surface active agent type of warm mix additive has been made in the focus study on warm mix technology of waste asphalt material.The water content in the waste and scrape of milling material and asphalt content have been measured. The asphalt and the aggregating performance have been evaluated. The mixing amount of the recycled asphalt pavement material has been determined, which accounts for the mineral aggregate gradation and performance of the mixture. The ratio of the stone and oil in the warm mix recycled asphalt mixture has also been deermined; total mass of warm mix asphalt admixture dosage for new and old asphalt. The design approach of the mixture ratio of warm asphalt material has been made. The feasibility of warm mix asphalt material with high temperature stability, low temperature crack resistance and water stability has been experimented. Eventually, the application of regeneration of the old asphalt pavement under real condition can be tracked and observing at the later stage, which has further proved every performance of the regenerated asphalt pavement with the technique of warn mix.
