Assemble to order (ATO) has been adopted by more and more factory for meeting customers personalized needs, which means various types of products are assembled in the same assembly line and the demand to production flexibility become more and more strict. Complex equipment products is intricacy in construction and technology. In the assembly process, the assembly parts must be finished in the parts assembly lines before starting to assembly the products using the pats which is assigned by the BOM in the product assembly line. Under the condition of supply relationship between parts and products, if the scheduling is optimal for every assembly line without considering the matching relation between parts and products, which must result suspend production for the product assembly line and overstock for parts. It is necessary to optimize production planning and scheduling considering the parts assembly lines and the product assembly line simultaneously.In this paper, the production characteristic in the mixed no-wait assembly flow line is debated. The existing problems in the process of carrying out ATO in the factory with supply collaboration of several assembly flow lines are analyzed. Finally, a method of making production planning and scheduling legitimately for several mixed no-wait assembly flow lines to ensure the assembly flow lines without suspend production and delivery of products timely is the key technology to solve the above problems. Therefore, under the ground of the cooperation between products and several parts mixed no-wait assembly flow lines, considering the production characteristic, this paper research the collaborative optimization method for production planning and scheduling.Under the volatility of demand circumstances, a collaborative optimization method of making production planning for products and parts mixed no-wait assembly flow lines is proposed to solve the problem that how to make decision of product category and quantities of every stage to ensure delivery of products timely and minimize the parts storage. The mathematical model was presented with the two objectives, which were designed to simultaneously minimize the parts storage, the total cost of earliness/tardiness for products. A multi-objective ant optimization algorithm is proposed to solve above model, which is proved effective by testing simulation example. Finally, managers can choose one of pareto-optimal solutions to meet their demand as their decision.To solve the problem of continuous production on the condition of different task times in multi-line no-wait flowshop for mixed-flow tasks, the method of task scheduling was studied to realize orders deliver on schedule with lot production and kitting supply. The mathematical model was presented with the three objectives, which were designed to simultaneously minimize the makespan, the total time of earliness/tardiness and product conversion punishment. And the improved multi-colony ant optimization algorithm was proposed for solving the model. Finally, as some machine tool plant for example, the above model is testified. Through compared with the results of traditional ant colony algorithm and traditional multi-colony ant optimization algorithm, the result through the improved multi-colony ant optimization algorithm was better. Compared with the present method of task scheduling used by the enterprise, the improved method of task scheduling can efficiently reduce makespan and production cost, increase the rate of timely delivery.
