Nowadays, modern ships develop to the large-scale, integrated, High-tech direction. The number and types of electricity load are increasing, so energy management of marine power station becomes extremely complex. It is necessary to manage power generation, distribution and consumption effectively. There are two points, the first is ensuring enough available power for maintaining power, and the second is trying to keep fuel consumption and minimize on a minimum level with the power optimization method. What’s more, alarm and protection unit has become an indispensable for safe and reliable operation. So it can reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment utilization. Therefore, PMS has been become an inevitable choice.PMS uses s7-1200 type PLCs as the core controllers to design and develop it on this thesis. By building on an industrial Ethernet based on Profinet, PLC, touch screen and remote computer configure to a network. The main parts of PMS are designed and implemented,which Include I/O link of system, load management part, distribution management aspects, power optimization part. First, PC, HMI, the core controllers, un--its of implementation are connected with industrial Ethernet which is layered. Then the specific function of each link are designed, including the design of control circuit, PLC programing and HMI configuration.PMS is divided into six modules and a number of sub-modules, and the design principles and implementation process of some modules is elaborated in detail. The core controllers collect voltage, current, power, and some switch status of the power system, and they run the programs and calculate the algorithm with HMI’s assistance. Finally, the functions of PMS are completed.At last, after hardware connection and software programming, it is important to test and verify the functions of PMS what is designed based on Profinet. This thesis implements the main functions of the PMS.
