With the continual development of society and economy, it is proposed higher requirements to the construction, safe and reliable operation of the power grid, as well as the power quality and high quality service level is needed. Distribution automation equipment and distribution network communication are becoming the hot research topic as the development of the era. Now, how to raise the utilization rate of power energy and the safety of operation by monitoring system has turned into the key point and difficulty point of the distribution automation communication research around the world. While communication technology has quite matured and wireless communication technology is being widely used in some areas gradually. The stability and reliability of distribution network monitoring terminal are not guaranteed in the places where cables could not be lay in due to the limitation of distribution network technology and the external environment. How to raise the reliability of distribution network communication system maximum by the combination of the power cable communication and wireless technology is the key point in this paper. This paper systematically summarizes the status quo and the research achievements of distribution network communication technology in domestic and abroad. It introduces several kinds of wired and wireless communication technology widely used, and makes an emphasis on the analysis and implementation of distribution network communication which is based on cable communication and ZigBee (ZigBee Technology) wireless technology. The innovation of this paper is combined with a variety of new technologies, the ZigBee technology used to supplement the distribution automation communication system, the substation or site and open and close communication conditions, ring network cabinet and box transformer substation adopts MESH networking method, subnet according to network mode, to the nearest per subnet using a center equipment connected to the optical fiber network, combined with an efficient and EPON cable technology to realize the seamless docking with the EPON system data, ensure the quality of data transmission, further extending coverage, large-scale company communication transmission and partition management can be realized, which will accelerate the development of distribution network communication technology effectively.
