The glass curtain wall as a new type of building periphery structure is widely used, especially the component type glass curtain wall which has mature technology and simple construction. However, in many curtain wall projects which have been completed, there are many unsafe phenomena such as the falling glass and the beam reverse. Therefore, how to guarantee the security performance of the curtain wall becomes a special focus of the curtain wall industry. This paper combined with the practical engineering and focused on a series of existing problems in the design process of the component type glass curtain wall, then finish the following research.The column of the component type glass curtain wall is the key component of the curtain wall. The correctly calculation of the stress not only affects the safety and reliability of the curtain wall, but also is a main influenced factor of the construction investment of the curtain wall. This paper combined with the design results of the practical engineering, through the theoretical analysis and comparison, it is concluded that the mechanics model of the multi-span hinged beam with the actual load situation is consistent, and the numerical analysis of stress and deflection of the column structure by the application of the finite element method, which makes the numerical calculation of the multi-span hinged beam is simple. For the high-rise buildings, the wind load has a great influence on the design of the structure of the column. According to the actual engineering conditions, this paper suggests the column structure should be designed in accordance with the principle of the same stiffness.In view of the phenomenon of the beam reverse appears on the existing project, and the eccentric force of the beam and its fittings are studied, and combining with calculation of the engineering example, verified the weight of glass plate which has a larger eccentric influence on the beam. In the process of the design of the component type glass curtain wall, this paper suggests to check the eccentric force of the beams and its fittings.In the design of the curtain wall engineering, usually the finite element analysis is only carried out on the individual component of the general floor. This method ignores the stress condition of the different locations of the curtain wall and the influence of the interaction between component to the whole system. This paper by means of the method of the compiling command, carried on the finite element analysis to the whole glass curtain wall system, obtained the stress distribution of the whole curtain wall system, compared with the traditional design method shows: the interaction of components can improve the bearing capacity of components, and the different locations of the support have the certain effects on the overall system. Therefore, this paper suggested that the design of the curtain wall should be according to the specific conditions to set up the position of the support reasonably.
