| The traditionalstormwater management design focused on collecting stormwater in piped networkds and transporting it off site rapidly into stream or river, but this method cannot address the problems like the rapidly increased runoff caused by mass urbanization in the last 30 years of China. The new stormwatermanagement strategy, Low Impact Development (LID),can restore naturalhydrologiesand protect the hydrological characteristics of the site, through a series of scattered planting-engineering to manage stormwater runoff as their predevelopment conditions.LID can bring some illumination to Chinese cities and be helpful tothe development of stormwater management. This paper explainsthe LID’s different manner’s basic structures, functionsand the review of the ecological benefits of LID, the summary of Landscape architecting methods and technology measures, through the analysis of ecological benefits brought by a variety of LID techniques, such asthe green roof, the rain garden, vegetation buffer zone and ecological grassed swales, et.Especially, plants as the key factors influencing the LID technical facilities function, would be influenced by the LID technical facilities in a variety of precipitation factors and pollution factors. The author analyzed the different LID facilities, through theirfunctions, structure and environmental conditions, to put forward the principles of selecting plants and configuration different LID technology facilities. As a result, some LID plant species which are suitable to Fuzhou,Fujian, selected by a comprehensive evaluation for the LID.Finally, the author investigated and analyzed the plants selection through the two actual case:the roof garden of Fujian agriculture and forestry university(A&FU) and Guanyin lake riparian buffer zone. |
