From Module To Modular Design

Chinese contemporary construction industry has developed rapidly. From architecture and interior design to environmental art design, All links are highly condensed with the beauty of art as well as the power of science and technology that the humans have ever created. The progress of civilization makes people pay more attention to object innovation and seeking for top efficiency. Modular design is a method of practice based on the human achievements in architectural construction. Modular design is not a new creation, having a historical theory source that is known as module technique. This thesis presents module technique theory, summarizing its significance in the practice of traditional architectural construction, analyzing the application features of modular design in modern architectural construction, applying modular design to architectural decoration line on practice.The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part put forward the argument, the research background, the main object of study and the study methods. Based on the satiation, analyzing reasons to propose research direction. The second part is theoretical research focusing on module technique and modular design. In order to present the relationship of the two design methods, the thesis includes concept explanation. The third part is the demonstration phase divided into two chapters, each chapter respectively expounds one method applied research from module technique and modular design, aimed on traditional and modern architectural construction. The fourth part is practice stage. On the basis of theory study and method summary, apply modular design to architectural decoration line design and production, combining theory with practice research.The thesis put theory into practice. It proves that modular design is the inheritance of module technique. The modular design application on architectural construction keeps space in order with the beauty of rule. Using the method of modular design can also make the design performance more systematic. In architectural decoration line design, the method of modular design brings about a striking effect on both raising the production efficiency and reducing the waste of resources. It turns out that modular design is a effective approach to achieve the goal of low-carbon and energy-saving.
