Study On The Architectural Decoration Meaning Of Cai's Traditional Residential Buildings In Min'Nan

Min'Nan area (The south of Fujian Province) is an immigrant society in history. Abundant Central-Plain-culture was brought to this area after four great migrations; Meanwhile, this area is the beginning point of " maritime Silk Road " in Chinese history, so it was affected by overseas culture deeply.In this area, special nature environment, social and historical background, and political and economic basis have breed specific regional-culture and the typical representative of this kind of culture characteristics - the traditional residential buildings of Cai's Family in zhangli village of guanqiao town of Min'Nan area. As the most outstanding and the most typical holographic-symbol of this building group, a mass of building decoration clearly shows the unique regional-culture characteristic of Min'Nan area from different sides.Applying the basic theory and research method of anthropology and typology, this paper regards the traditional residential buildings of Cai's Family and their decoration art as its research objects to analyse their ornament, characteristic and meanings .from different angles such as living environment, historical origin , form norm , craft and technology , religious meaning , artistic style and culture intension etc.This paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter one is introduction. It discusses the proposal and source of the subject, defines the research object and research scope, and expatiates the research history and current situation, research purpose and meaning, research angles and methods and the frame of this paper.
