It is a complicated engineering problem to design an efficient traffic route program. Many factors which need considering are complicated and correlative in the course of designing. especially in Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou in Southwest China, whole terrain is mountainous and plateau. In response to these complex terrain. It is very difficult for designers to balance these factors and choose a reasonable traffic route. Traditionally, engineers designed traffic routes on the basis of their experience without synthetically considering all influential factors. Therefore, the routes they chose were far from perfection. Many mathematical models have already been raised to solve the problem of route optimization, but most of them only stressed the horizontal route or the vertical route and only succumbed to a program which was not the best one.The paper raised an improved model on the basis of the SPEA2 of Pareto. Individual choice of new fitness function based on the Euclidean distance(KND) modification of the elite species update policy. With the aim of spending the least project cost and taking the least sensitive region, it introduced the functional model of road engineering expenses, and set up the overall goal of highway and the orientation of optimal object by setting the influential factors of route and the object function. The research was made through combining the technology of GIS. It overcame some shortcomings of the existing models and solved the problem of three-dimensional route optimization at the same time.Through case study, the paper finally proves that the model can optimize route in any complicated fields and various geographical environment. The findings of the paper will provide engineers with an acceptable and consultative program of different Pareto by exporting the detailed information of optimizing route. It will give route planners an additional help and improve the quality of infrastructure.
